Free Spirit Cruises Forster

Wallis Lake is an expansive body of water with hidden islands and rivers that has an abundance of beautiful sights to see including birds, fauna and oyster beds. One way of experiencing this beautiful part of New South Wales is to book a cruise with Free Spirit Cruises Forster.

I had booked my place a few weeks in advance and looked forward to exploring parts of Wallis Lake that I had never seen before. The day was a gloomy one but that didn't worry me considering the terrible drought we have been in, it was great to finally have rain.

The vessel is a double-decker and very comfortable and offers seating upper deck or down below. Guests can opt-in for a lunch cruise and as well the fully-licensed bar offers a great range of wines, beers and spirit.

Tim, our Skipper and tour guide, gave us a great rundown of the local history and places of interest as we travelled along the waterways.

On a clear day this water would have been aqua but there was something just as beautiful as the grey skies and dull water.

I had plenty of opportunities to take some pics for this post.

Once we were on our way lunch was served. The crew had been preparing the plates in the galley consisting of a super-fresh bread roll, turkey, ham and salad. Then after for dessert a fresh apple-pie and cream with a cup of tea or coffee. I was told the bakery at Forster Keys supplied the rolls and apple-pie so I'll be paying them a visit soon! As well as lunch I enjoyed a class of Chardonnay which I purchased from the bar.

Tim was able to get up close to a pod of dolphins that delighted us all with their antics.

The photo below is the nest of a Sea Eagle. It's a bit blurry however look at the branch at the top of the photo and go down the the "V" and you will see the nest.

For those of us that love birds, there's no shortage of photo opportunities.

I was actually quite amazed at the different properties, picnic areas and other places of interest as we cruised along Wallis Lake.

I will be booking myself into another Free Spirit Cruise and hopefully next time I'll get to experience it on a sunny day.
