For lovers of wine, a must visit is boutique winery Jacaranda Estate Wingham in the beautiful Manning Valley NSW. This delightful property is owned by Mark and Belinda Smith who both have considerable experience in gardening, viticulture and wine. There's a warm welcome as you enter the Cellar Door where you are invited to tour the gardens and then come back and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

The Gardens

The first part of your self-guided tour will be to visit the garden of exotic plants, fruit and nut trees, a citrus orchard and a vineyard before heading down to the river. With my list of the summary of plants off I wandered to explore this wonderful little winery in Wingham. It was the middle of winter, so not as colourful as I would have hoped, but that's a great excuse to return in Spring and see the garden come to life and those famous Jacaranda trees!

Citrus Orchard

On my visit the citrus orchard had a abundance of fruit and I later discovered that this fruit is used to make liqueurs. It's worth noting here that the wines and liqueurs can only be purchased at the Cellar Door. Behind the citrus orchard is a vegetable garden and it's because of the fruit, plants, vegetables and vines that Mark and Belinda refer to Jacaranda Estate as a Vinegarden.

As you wander through the property you will come across a pond with its resident ducks and views of the vines below.

Further down there is a tranquil river and a table and chairs for those who want to enjoy a glass of Bella overlooking this beautiful space.

Back at the Cellar Door and I sat with Mark and he explained more to me about his and Belinda's viticulture experience. Mark is an interesting man with lots of stories to tell. I certainly enjoyed sitting down sipping the last of my glass of Bella.

Bella Sparkling Wine

BELLA

Bella is a very drinkable sparkling wine with no sugar! She is made from the same blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as the Estate's Methode Champenoise without having been fermented for a second time in the bottle and so it is carbonated at the Estate and is available on tap and bottled.
